I'm Paolo, a Dutch-Italian robotics engineer, KU Leuven MSc (Cum Laude), based in Brussels. I currently work as a software automation engineer at TMC Belgium.

My background spans mechanical engineering, embedded systems, and software, from wearables and robotics to industrial control systems. I like working on the line between hardware and software, in teams that span multiple domains.

SCADA development for Agentschap Wegen en Verkeer's dynamic traffic management infrastructure: WPF/XAML frontends, C# .NET backend services, industrial protocols (OPC-UA, Modbus, SNMP, MQTT), SQL Server, and the VM infrastructure underneath.

FEB – SEP 2023

Student Embedded Support Engineer

Assembled, programmed, and tested LoRa-based industrial sensor modules. STM32 firmware flashing, calibration of gas-sensor modules (O2, CO, NO2, H2), and R&D support on prototype products.

Full hardware and software development kit for an XR data glove. PCB design, sensor fusion benchmarked against the SenseGlove Nova, ROS2 and Unity integrations.

Parallel SCARA Robot

Bachelor's Thesis · KU Leuven Group T

Full mechanical and electrical design of a parallel SCARA installation for palletizing pétanque balls, with FEA load analysis and a derived product line.

iGEM Leuven: SenSkill Biosensor

iGEM KU Leuven · Gold-medal website, silver overall

Sole developer of the team wiki (Bootstrap + Flask) for the SenSkill biosensor project on colorectal cancer detection. Also part of the dry-lab team that built the supporting mathematical model in MATLAB.

OPC-UA + MQTT architecture controlling a Siemens motor drive via Azure Cloud. Set up a Siemens IOT2050 as an OPC-UA / Node-RED bridge with a Python tkinter GUI.
